Chautauqua Performance of Madame Mentelle
Exciting news! Did you know that Charlotte Victoria LeClerc Mentelle, a remarkable French woman who fled the French Revolution, opened Mentelle’s School for young ladies in Lexington, America? Mentelle taught social etiquette, literature, and even French to her students. One of her notable pupils was none other than Mary Ann Todd, who would go on to become Mary Todd Lincoln! Despite being considered eccentric by locals, Mentelle believed in equality and supported women’s education. Let’s celebrate the legacy of this incredible educator! Listen to her story and enjoy a light snack at our Event Barn. Doors open at 5:45pm and performance begins at 6:30pm Tickets must be purchased no later than November 29th.
