ABOUT US

Equus Run Vineyards

Est. In 1998

It all began in 1998 with an idea for Wine Country. . . in Horse Country.

Equus Run Vineyards was born out of family, friendships and our local community in transforming a tobacco and cattle farm into a tourism destination. The winery produces wines of varietal character from the limestone soils and presents an entertainment schedule for all to enjoy. There are 38 acres to explore, sip and stroll.

We invite you to “Visit the Vineyard, Taste the Experience”. We welcome you to the Bluegrass. Horses are always welcome.

SADDLESTONE DISTILLERY

Now Open!

The long awaited and hard fought opening of Saddlestone Distillery has finally happened, come enjoy a glass of brandy and relax while overlooking the 38 acres of horse country our wine has been made famous for. We serve brandy and agave spirits that are distilled on site, aged, and served by professional staff to our thirsty patrons everyday of the year.

Cynthia Bohn, Owner and Master Distiller, is responsible for Saddlestone’s creation and oversees the entire process of fermenting, mixing, and condensing the vapor that produces our unique brand of spirit.

Our distillery is located in Midway, Kentucky along side our Winery where we draw inspiration from the natural beauty and unique flavors of the region. We are a woman business, and we believe in supporting local farmers and suppliers to ensure that our products are always fresh and sustainable.

Beautiful winery We enjoy finding local wineries when on vacation, this one did not disappoint. The drive there alone is worth going. We did not do a tasting but did purchase a bottle to enjoy in their beautiful garden sitting. If I had a book I could have set there all day! Pricing was good.

Very good wines in a scenic setting This is a former tobacco farm converted to a very scenic Winery/Vineyard with some good wines. Found this on a recent trip based on it's reviews (thanks fellow reviewers) so we picked up lunch and headed there for a tasting. We bought Shakin the Blues (blueberry), Grenache Noir and Bella Rosso (a Port style), and had a bottle of Reisling for (a long!) lunch. This appears to be a popular place but there was no wait at the tasting hut. The grounds are very scenic, surrounded by horse country.

Good wine, beer and cheese We enjoyed the tasting and bought some wine, but would prefer that the glass be rinsed out between various wines.

Lovely Scenery The setting of Equus makes for a lovely stop - especially in good weather! The tasting room didn't provided either water nor crackers between tastings, which felt awkward. We only chose one type of wine to purchase in the end.

Great place to relax and taste! We were intrigued by signage on the interstate and decided to take a travel break at Equus.First, it is a bit off the path, but the scenery was pretty and relaxing. We were the only ones in the tasting room and we were quickly greeted by Samantha. She was amazing! She guided us through our six tastings for $10. The extra $3 gave us souvenir glasses. We left with 3 bottles of wine! I would definitively go there again!

Very nice friendly place Even though the tasting room was closed, we still enjoyed our visit, ordered a bottle of wine and sit in their yard, where there is a kazaboo and chairs and tables. Very friendly staff, they have a walking or driving tour. They have music on the weekends and there is a creek running thru the property where u can picnic. Highly recommend if you are touring winery’s.

Friendly service...tasty wines...in a tranquil setting. This winery is very unique and has a cool and quaint setting. The friendly staff takes their time to walk you through the different tastes and attributes on each of their offerings. You can also purchase a bottle of one of your favorites, and take it out on their sizable patio or at the large gazebo...and take-in the surroundings with your selection. Highly recommended for a cool place to sit back, enjoy some wine ...and just chill.
