Justice John Marshall Harlan, a remarkable figure in U.S. history, served on the Supreme Court for an incredible 33 years! Born in Boyle County to a prominent family and educated at Centre College and Transylvania, he courageously fought for the Union during the Civil War. Justice Harlan’s unwavering support for equal rights after the war never waned. Though sometimes criticized for contradictory views, he firmly believed in his right to change his mind, thanks to the power of the law. Let’s celebrate this outstanding advocate for justice and equality!
